The designation is awarded by Align Technology as a way to rate providers. For patients, it is a quick way to know that you are getting the best Invisalign provider available.

Why Choose an Invisalign Diamond Plus Provider?

An Invisalign Diamond Plus provider is at the highest level of providers. They have completed hundreds of successful treatment plans to attain that status. In fact, Diamond Plus is the highest rating available and only one percent of orthodontists nationwide can make this claim! But you still have questions. How are the ratings determined? Does it cost more to get treatment from a highly-rated provider?

Provider ratings are based on the number of successful treatment plans completed. Align Technology uses an eight-tier scale. Each level has a point value. Points accumulate with the completion of successful treatment plans. The required points for each level are:

  • 0 points — Bronze
  • 5,000 points — Silver
  • 24,000 points — Gold
  • 30,000 points — Gold Plus
  • 60,000 points — Platinum
  • 100,000 points — Platinum Plus
  • 140,000 points — Diamond
  • 200,000 points — Diamond Plus

Points are awarded for Invisalign, Invisalign Teen, and Assist Invisalign treatments. The points reset every year, so an orthodontist must consistently perform at a certain level. After serving 800 patients cumulatively, a provider can use the added designation of Elite Provider at whatever yearly level they attain. So a Platinum provider may use the designation of Platinum Elite provider if they have treated 800 patients over several years.

Invisalign costs are fairly average regardless of the provider status. Any difference in treatment costs is based on other factors. For instance, treatment is surprisingly less expensive in rural areas than it is in urban areas. Another factor is the hourly rate for the doctor, although this also won’t change much. So, no, it is not more expensive to receive treatment from a Diamond Plus provider.
